India sees GDP growth slowing to 6%-6.8% in 2023/24

India on Tuesday projected that its economy will grow by 6% to 6.8% in the fiscal year beginning April 1, lower than the 7% estimated for the current year, as a global slowdown is likely to hurt exports. .

The government’s annual Economic Survey report said the baseline scenario for growth for 2023/24 was 6.5%, with a modest increase to 11% for inflation.

Tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament ahead of the annual budget on Wednesday, the survey is largely the government’s review of how the economy has fared over the past year.
