In January, Indian warship INS Sumitra rescued 19 Pakistani crew members of a fishing vessel after the Iranian-flagged vessel was attacked by pirates off the east coast of Somalia. The Navy foiled an attempt to hijack the Liberian flagged ship MV Leela Norfolk in the North Arabian Sea on January 5 and rescued all her crew members.
