Speakers at a webinar on Friday alleged that India was extracting maximum profits from its neighboring countries like Bangladesh.
He further said that India has developed an “unfair” setting in the region, including Bangladesh, for its own benefit. The “all-acceptance” mentality of the politicians as well as the people of Bangladesh is highly responsible for this situation.
These were the remarks made by the speakers at a webinar titled 'Bangladesh and its Neighbors: Indian influence on Bangladeshi politics' organized by the Forum for Bangladesh Studies.
Ali Riaz, distinguished professor in the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, presented the keynote address at the webinar.
“India wants to control the internal politics of Bangladesh,” he said.
Professor Ali Riaz argued, “First of all, India aspires to be a global power. Second, they have their own financial interests. Third, India wants to limit US influence in the region, including Bangladesh.
