Giving example, he said that if a person deposits Rs 1000 per month, the government will also provide the same amount under the programme.

He said that some civil society members who did not appreciate the initiative may come forward in future with what is wrong with the scheme. They do nothing but criticize.

The minister recalled that after assuming power in 1996, Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had introduced allowances for the elderly and widows with the goal of building a humane society and social-welfare state.

Now government is providing 22 types of allowances and 3000-3500 people from each union council of the country are the beneficiaries of those allowances.

Hasan said that the government is ensuring land as well as house to the marginalized people, turning the dreams of thousands into reality.

Highlighting the initiatives of the government in the health sector, the Minister said that a large number of community clinics have been set up at the grassroots level to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of people and hospitals are being modernized to provide quality service .
