Increment of subscriber number is a common trend in communication industry, but Bangladesh experienced the reverse in last three months. It happened when four mobile operators have launched their 3G service.
According to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) all four private mobile operators who were awarded 3G license in last September have lost internet subscribers. Mobile internet subscriber number is dropped to 3.41 crore from 3.50 crore in last three months. On the contrary state owned mobile operator Teletalk have enjoyed the increment of internet subscribers. They have been offering 3G service since 2012.
But mobile operators are blaming the political unrest of last few months. They are yet to complete 3G network expansion task, but they have been facing difficulty due to political situation.
BTRC have already cautioned the mobile operators for call drop problem, poor network coverage and unsatisfactory customer care support. The regulatory body also argues that the spectrum operators have bought in the auction is not enough to provide satisfactory service to people.
