The 22nd Council of Ministers (CoM) meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) has adopted the ‘IORA’s Perspective on the Indo-Pacific’ (IOIP) which will guide the enhancement of IORA’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
India led the process of development of IOIP.
The ministers also supported India’s candidature for the IORA Vice-Chair for the period 2023-25.
IORA Dhaka Development Initiative has now been renamed as IORA Development Initiative.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, “Good progress has been made to set up the initiative. We hope to finalize it by early next year.”
The ministers jointly met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday.
India participated in the 22nd COM meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) held in Dhaka on Thursday.
The Indian delegation was led by Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs.
IORA is the largest and pre-eminent organization in the Indian Ocean region with 23 members and 10 dialogue partners.
