Some reports suggest that Syrian rebels fighting to oust President Bashar Al Assad are using iPad application to fire mortar shells. The rebels are backed by some western countries along with some neighboring countries.
But they are still struggling against well equipped government forces. Necessity is the mother of invention. The rebels have invented a technique to fire homemade mortar shells more accurately with the help of iPad. How far a fired shell will go depends on firing angle. This calculation is not easy. But iPad application is helping them. Some rebels are using maps on iPad for more accuracy. Walkie talkie and tablet computers are also being used to guide mortar shells.
Many homemade weapons were also used in the Libyan civil war, where the rebels were fighting against Gaddafi regime with western help. That time rebels manufactured armored vehicle, bombs, gun and many things. They used broken mirrors to monitor the movement of government soldiers.
