In a further effort to rein in the growing number of women flouting the mandatory dress code, Iranian authorities are installing cameras in public places to identify and punish uncovered women, police announced on Saturday.
Police said in a statement that once they are identified, violators will receive “warning messages about consequences”.
The move is aimed at “stopping resistance against the hijab law”, said a statement issued by the judiciary’s Mizan news agency and other state media, saying such resistance tarnishes the country’s spiritual image and spreads insecurity.
