Iran witnessed massive anti-government protests in September following the death of Kurdish Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, who was detained for violating the strict dress code imposed on women.

The European Parliament condemned the crackdown on protesters by Iran’s security forces, including the powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps, as “brutal”.

Amirabdollahian said, “In the diplomatic world it is necessary to respect mutual security and increase mutual trust instead of following the language of threats and unfriendly actions. In any case of terrorist listing, Iran will take reciprocal measures.”

Iran and world powers, including European Union members France and Germany, have been engaged in talks through 2021 to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, with talks deadlocked since September.
