Speaking at the event, he identified the lack of political mandate as the primary obstacle to the interim government. “We lacked strength, and we lacked mandate,” he said, adding that this often hindered the implementation of decisions at the desired pace.

The former advisor highlighted that upon assuming office, he faced instability in almost every economic sector, including banking, capital markets and revenue administration. Foreign exchange reserves were declining, and the current account and overall balance of payments were at risk.

He claimed that now these indicators have returned to some degree of stability.

Salehuddin Ahmed said that although there were not visible changes in every sector during the tenure of the previous interim government, fundamental reforms were carried out in various sectors of the economy and administration. “I use two words – repair and reform,” he said. “First, we had to repair things, and then we moved on to improvements.”
