On July 15, the student disciplinary committee of the university decided to expel Sanjeeda Chowdhary, vice president of residential hall unit BCL, and four others from all academic, residential and other activities for one year for harassing first-year student Phulpori Khatoon. . The High Court said that the way the guilty students were punished is not fair.

Instead, it asked the university authorities to follow the Students’ Code of Conduct, 1987, to determine the punishment for the five guilty students. The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Razik Al Jalil passed the order on July 26. After this, the University Syndicate expelled all five for life.
