Both the Bangladesh Students League (BCL) and even the Awami League are ashamed of the BCL leaders for condoling the death of Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Delawar Hussain Saidi, who was executed in 1971 for crimes against humanity. For the crimes committed, he was sentenced to life in prison.
The ruling party and the central BCL feel that during their 15-year rule, there has been an infiltration of opportunists into their party and its sister bodies, including the Chhatra League. He has even termed these opportunists as ‘hybrid’.
Many top-level leaders of the Awami League have referred to these infiltrators as Jamaat-shibir workers. Now the ruling party is blaming these opportunists for mourning the death of Jamaat leader Sayeedi.
However, the question is, can the ruling party escape the responsibility of allowing these opportunists to infiltrate the Awami League and its sister bodies?
