Jamaat plans to put pressure on BNP both in Parliament and on the streets

Jamaat-e-Islami does not want to limit itself to just parliamentary debates, notices or walkouts as the party wants to increase pressure on the streets by highlighting issues like implementation of referendum decision, local government elections, energy, commodity prices and law and order.

The party aims to keep the BNP government under political pressure from both Parliament and the streets.

Issues like rape, murder, terrorism and domination and extortion in educational institutions will also be given priority in his agenda.

These ideas and plans have emerged from discussions with various levels of the Jamaat.

Jamaat wishes to strongly highlight the issue that the BNP government has taken a stand against reforms in both parliamentary and regional programmes. Unlike in the past, they do not intend to limit themselves to just boycotting Parliament or symbolic protests, but also want to simultaneously hold parliamentary debates, walkouts and street movements.

Jamaat supports snap elections except for administrators appointed by the party and does not allow these administrators to participate in those elections.

Ehsanul Mahboob Zubair, head of the party’s publicity and media division, told Prothom Alo that implementing the referendum decision and local government elections are on the Jamaat’s agenda.

Demanding early elections, he said the government must ensure that current party administrators are not able to participate in these elections.
