Earlier this month, Mahmudul Alam had applied for bail in the High Court after facing a setback in the trial court in that case. The High Court bench of Justice Jahangir Hussain and Justice Mohammad Shaukat Ali Chaudhary granted six months bail to Mahmudul during a hearing last Monday.
The state filed an appeal in the Appellate Division on Tuesday seeking a stay on the order. The appeal was heard in the Chamber Court on Wednesday.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin along with Assistant Attorney General M Saiful Alam presented the case on behalf of the state in the court. Senior advocate Mohammed Mamtaz Uddin Fakir represented the accused in the court.”
