Badarganj upazila Jamaat-e-Islami emir Mohammad Kamruzzaman Kabir said the ethnic party was working to bring back the “fascist” Awami League. He said that the Upazila Jatiya Party has made its position clear.
In a press statement, Mohammad Mustaqur Rahman, joint convenor of Badarganj upazila committee of Jatiya Party, said that the comments made by Mokammel Haq Choudhary about Sheikh Hasina were made in error and reflect his personal opinion.
Efforts to contact Mokamel Haq Choudhary directly were unsuccessful. However, Anisul Islam Mondol, Jatiya Party candidate for Rangpur-2 constituency, told Prothom Alo, “He said he would bring back Sheikh Hasina – it was a mistake of his tongue. He did not mean it. He said it out of passion. Later, he himself admitted that it was a mistake.”
