The demonstration in Dhaka was led by Rana Das Gupta, general secretary of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad. Speaking in front of Shahbagh police station, he said, “Those who become MPs with our votes, buy cars, are attacking us today.” He said, “We have been saying that some sections are actively doing this. Trying to ensure that we cannot celebrate Durga Puja in peace. Today we are in pain, burning inside. Minorities are constantly ignored. We have seen a lot of comedy. We don’t believe in all this anymore. We want an end to our suffering and pain.”
