Julia Leung becomes first female head of Hong Kong securities watchdog

The Hong Kong government has named Julia Leung as the new head of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), becoming the first female head of the territory’s securities regulator.

The regulator said on Thursday that Leung, currently 33, deputy head and head of the arbitration department at the SFC, will replace Ashley Elder when his term ends on December 31.
