Mehidy Hasan (16), Bangladesh’s last recognized batsman, and Ebadot Hossain (13) will hope they can do something special to try and avoid a follow-on when play resumes on Friday.
Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep dashed Bangladesh’s hopes of lighting up the Indian tail quickly when play resumed at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Overnight batsman Shreyas Iyer added only four runs to his overnight score of 82 before the fall of Abadot, but Bangladesh’s desire was not met.
Instead, Ashwin and Kuldeep stitched together an 87-run partnership to take India closer to 400.
Ashwin scored 58 before Mahdi (4-112) stumped him.
Kuldeep hit five fours before falling victim to left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who returned to take 4-133.
