Cyclonic storm 'Midhili' has intensified over the Bay of Bengal.

The deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into cyclone ‘Midhili’. In the latest notification, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has increased danger signal number 7 at Mongla and Payra ports and number 6 at Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar ports.

According to BMD, the sea around the center of the cyclone is extremely rough, and many coastal districts may experience tides three to five feet higher than normal tides.

Ismail Hossain, joint director of Dhaka River Port in BIWTA’s Maritime Safety and Traffic Management Department, informed Prothom Alo that all types of water transport has been stopped from Dhaka River Port from 10:30 am today. This instruction will remain in effect until the weather conditions improve.
