An expelled Jatiya Party (Japa) leader has filed a lawsuit seeking suspension of all party activities amid a temporary ban on party president GM Quader.

Jatiya Party co-chairman Syed Abu Hussain, GM Quader’s wife Sherifa Quader and 98 other leaders and activists were on Wednesday named as defendants in the lawsuit filed by former JAP activist Ziaul Haque in the first joint district court.

Earlier, in a case filed by him, the same court had on October 30 issued a temporary restraining order against the GM quadrangle, barring him from participating in the decision-making process in the party.

Party sources said the GM quadrangle has refrained from political activities since the court ban. The next date for passing orders in the matter has been fixed for November 30.
