Anwar Hossain breathed his last in Square Hospital of the capital last night. His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Baitul Mukarram mosque and second at his long day’s work place FDC. But many of today’s popular performers were absent in his Namaz-e-Janaza. He was buried at Mirpur National graveyard beside his mother’s grave.
He was 82 and had been suffering from different kinds of old age complications.
Anwar Hossain was born in 1931. He acted in more than five hundred films. He joined theater in his student life. He started his career with radio drama. He also acted in some TV dramas. He received many awards including National Film Award, Ekushey Podok. He also received award from Pakistan government.
He acted in some highly praised cinemas including, Jibon, Theke Neya, Rupban, Kacher Deyal, Dui Diganta and Shurjoshnan in the sixties. But he was known as uncrowned Nawab for is outstanding role in Nawab Sirajuddoula, which was film on tragic Palashi war. That film was released in 1967. He continued to work in spite of illness. His last film was, Ghani.
