After hoisting his maiden World Cup trophy with Argentina in December, Lionel Messi said the tournament would be his last but now it seems he is open to the possibility of playing in the 2026 event.
“It will be difficult to make 2026 because of age,” Messi, 35, told Diario Ole, an Argentine sports newspaper. “I love playing football and when I feel I am in good shape and enjoying it, I will continue. It seems a long time until the next World Cup, but it depends on How is my career going?” ,
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni would love to see the superstar – one of only six players to feature in five World Cups – fit for the next World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
