Supporters of Tehmina Begum claimed that followers of the Awami League nominated candidate tried to take control of several polling stations. There was a clash and scuffle between the two sides regarding this. Awami League workers were also accused of forcibly stuffing ballot papers. However, due to the promptness of the administration, voting on this seat was completed without any major incident of violence.
Furthermore, apart from the complaints of the bomb attack and the murder of a supporter of Tehmina, there were allegations against Abdus Sobhan’s followers for hindering Tehmina Begum’s election campaign from the very beginning.
Speaking about the election results, Upazila Awami League general secretary Taufiquzzaman Shaheen said, “Today truth has won. The public has defeated a corrupt MP. If the elections were free and fair, we expected to win by a huge margin.
