Riding on Mahmudullah Riyad’s unbeaten 78, Bangladesh A team defeated Bangladesh national team by four wickets to lift the BCB Cup at a packed Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
In reply to national team’s 185 runs, Bangladesh A-team strolled to the victory in 49 overs with four wickets in hand.
Winning the toss, the newly appointed Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim decided to bat first and his decision seemed wise as the two openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes started the match brightly playing some rational cricket.
The A-side had to hang on till 9.2 overs to dig up the first howl. With 39 run on the scoreboard, left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal was caught by Farhad Reza in the second ball of the 10th over. Tamim scored an atypical 19 off 38 balls with only an average of 50 hitting two boundaries.
Mohammad Ashraful came to the crease and scored a 23 runs partnership before Imrul Kayes was stumped out by Elias Sunny in the 16th over. Imrul scored 26 off 39 balls with only boundary and two over boundaries.
