In response to questions from Reuters, Malaysia’s labor department pledged to crack down on recruitment agencies and companies abusing government quotas and licenses to hire migrant workers.
The department said in an emailed statement that it would conduct a thorough investigation, and would not compromise on any illegal activities that could lead to “forced labor of any kind”.
