According to Bangladesh Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), about 1,250,000 migrants have gone to Malaysia since January 1992. More than 350,000 migrants went to Malaysia last year. 50,000 workers go to Malaysia in 2022.

An interested migrant has to pay Tk 150,000 to this syndicate in the name of 100 agencies. Under this syndicate, business is also going on in the name of medical checkup. A migrant has gone to Malaysia by spending 400,000-500,000 taka. Many of them have not got jobs. As a result, international human rights organizations have put pressure on the Malaysian government. Now the country wants to fix the recruitment process of foreign workers. Therefore, the Malaysian government has decided to stop the recruitment of new employees.

The Malaysian labor market was shut down in September 2018 over allegations that a syndicate of 10 Bangladeshi recruitment agencies had engaged in corruption. After prolonged negotiations, the labor market was opened in August 2022. A movement was launched to all recruitment agencies for recruitment, but to no avail.
