Lionel Messi inspired Inter Miami to reach their second cup final since their arrival as they beat Cincinnati 5–4 on penalties after the US Open Cup semi-final finished 3–3 after extra time.
Miami trailed 2–0 with 22 minutes remaining, before Messi fired a free-kick from the left, which Leonardo Campana headed in with a header.
Then in the seventh minute of stoppage time, Messi found Campana again at the back post from the left and the Ecuadorian forward scored with his header for extra time.
