Messi is recovering well from injury, can play in Argentina warm-up: Scaloni

The Argentina national team medical staff has a lot of work to do, starting with their star forward Messi, who suffered a left hamstring strain in Inter Miami’s last match and is not expected to play against Honduras.

Scaloni also confirmed that Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso will start the game against Honduras at Kyle Field, given that his first-choice keeper Emiliano Martínez had suffered a fracture of the ring finger on his right hand during warm-up for the Europa League final.

The team medical staff have ruled him out of both friendlies, although Martínez should be available for the opener against Algeria.

Scaloni will also give minutes to debutant Santiago Beltran, with the young River Plate goalkeeper having been called up for friendly matches.

In defence, right backs Nahuel Molina and Gonzalo Montiel are recovering from muscle injuries, and the coaching staff has called up Agustín Zaia and Nicolas Capaldo to replace them in friendlies.
