When BNP announced to organize a grand rally on 28 October, Awami League wants to keep Gulistan and surrounding areas under its complete control.
The ruling party aims to establish its dominance on the streets to ensure that the BNP cannot take position on the streets.
Many central leaders of AL said that the party will adopt every possible strategy to keep BNP away. Sources said the police may not allow BNP to hold the rally in Naya Paltan and may ask to hold the rally somewhere else.
If BNP accepts the police proposal to shift its venue from Naya Paltan, AL will consider shifting its rally.
AL wants to gather 500,000 people in Dhaka city on October 28. The central leadership of the party will hold a meeting with leaders and public representatives of upazilas, police stations, wards and unions in and around Dhaka on Wednesday.
The party plans to bring in a large number of people from five upazilas of Dhaka district – Savar, Dohar, Keraniganj, Nawabganj and Dhamrai.
