Eight consultant agencies from Japan, France, India and Bangladesh were appointed last October for the construction of the Line-1 project, the main work of which is likely to begin next June.
The northern route of Metro Rail Line-5 will include the Hemayatpur-Watara route via Mirpur 10 and Gulshan, while the southern route of Line-5 will include the Gabtoli-Dasherkandi route via Panthapath, Hatijheel, Rampura and Aftabnagar.
Line-2 will start from Gabtoli and end at Chattogram Road via Basila, Mohammadpur, Jigtala, New Market, Dhaka Medical College, Gulistan, Arambagh, Kamalarapur and Mugda. MRT Line-4 will include the Kamlapur-Naiyaganj route.
As work has not progressed as per the plan to complete the construction of six metro rail lines by 2030, there remains uncertainty over the projects, construction and launch of the metro rail.
