
This year’s Fitra or Zakat al Fitr is set at 70 taka per person. Last year’s minimum Fitra was also 70 taka. This year maximum amount is set at 1,980 taka. But last year the maximum amount was 2,310 taka.
After a meeting of Islamic foundation at national mosque Baitul Mukarram, Mohammad Nizam Udin, assistant director of Islamic Foundation said this to the media. Members of Fitra assessment committee and prominent Islamic scholars of the country were present at the meeting. Fitra is fixed by considering the market price of flour, cheese, date, raisin, barley and other essential food items. For flour it’s the market price of 1.650 kg and for date, raisin, cheese and barley it’s the market price of 3.300 kg. Fitra is mandatory for Muslims and to be paid to poor before Eid prayer.
