Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital authorities have accused its cashier Mohd Abdus Sattar Miya of embezzling about 17.5 million taka from medical test fees.
Brigadier General Qazi Mohammad Rashid-un-Nabi, the director of the government hospital, said on Saturday that Sattar was asked to explain the discrepancies found in user fee accounts last week.
“He has been in office since last Tuesday, but has not been able to reconcile the accounts.”
According to Rashid, all the fees in the last few months were not deposited in the bank, which led to the discrepancy.
“How much more time shall we give him [Sattar], We should now take legal action against him,” he said.
