A Chattogram court on Sunday began the trial of seven suspects, including former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhtar, in connection with the high-profile murder of Mahmuda Akhtar Mitu in 2016.
The court of Chattogram’s Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-3 MD Jashim Uddin began the trial on Sunday after Mitu’s father, former police officer Musharraf Hussain, deposed as the first witness.
Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Mohammad Abdur Rasheed represented the state, while advocate Ghulam Mawla Murad represented Babul during the hearing.
On March 13, the same court had ordered the hearing of the case, convicting all the seven accused including Babul.
