Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahryar Alam has said that he has discussed with the Japanese-Deputy Minister about the national elections in Bangladesh.
“We have reiterated our commitment to conduct fair elections,” the state minister said while speaking to reporters after a meeting with Japanese Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Komura Masahiro at the state guest house in Padma on Saturday evening.
He said, the concerns and other issues that you have heard from some countries on different occasions, there is no such thing in Japan.
Shariar Alam said, “The Prime Minister has repeatedly assured of fair elections. The government is committed to conducting fair elections.”
Talking on trade between Bangladesh and Japan, he said, “Today’s Bangladesh is standing in this position with 15 years of continuity and political stability. This will continue in the coming days also.”
Regarding strategic relations with Japan, the Minister of State said that the metro rail work is nearing completion and Line 6 will start soon. The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was partially inaugurated.
The work of Matarwadi is going on at a fast pace. Bangabandhu Rail Bridge is being built on Yamuna. Discussions have been held to ensure that the projects are completed on time.
