Momen to meet Blinken in Washington on Monday

The two sides will also focus on their ongoing cooperation in tackling the climate crisis, meeting the needs of the Rohingyas, their safe return to Myanmar and promoting regional security through UN peacekeeping operations.

A diplomatic source said the US is likely to raise issues related to democracy and human rights.

On April 4 last year, Blinken met Momen to reflect on and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-US relations.

They discussed the “tremendous economic potential” of the relationship and reflected on ways the two countries have cooperated over the past half century – including growing people-to-people ties with vibrant Fulbright exchanges.

Blinken affirmed the importance of protecting human rights, the rule of law, and freedom of religion as the basis for secure and prosperous democratic societies.
