In a case registered at Ramna police station under the Digital Security Act, the court rejected the bail plea of Prothom Elo’s journalist Samasuzzaman and sent him to jail.
Matiur Rahman, editor of Prothom Alo, is also an accused in the case.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that he has heard that more cases are being filed against Prothom Alo journalist Samsuzzaman.
He said this when asked about the detention of Samsuzzaman and the case registered under the Digital Security Act.
When reporters asked the minister about the DSA case against Prothom Alo, he said that if anyone commits a mistake, he will be brought to book.
“I know of two-three cases so far. I have heard that more cases are being filed,” he said.
Regarding the arrest of Samasuzzaman, the Home Minister said that the CID initially detained him for questioning over the news of Prothom Alo and Akter Television. He was released after questioning but was arrested again in other cases.
