Dey alleged that the officer’s personal assistant was specifically targeted in the incident. “Both Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant and driver were present in the car; however, only his personal assistant was targeted and killed. There is no report of any other attack,” he said.

He further alleged, “They did not attack indiscriminately. They killed the specific person they wanted to target and then stopped. Through this act, they are trying to create fear in Madhyamgram and show that power still lies with the TMC.”

Earlier, West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari termed the murder of his personal assistant as a “brutal and premeditated murder” and urged party workers to maintain peace, while assuring that the culprits would be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has condemned the incident and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation.
