Nation mourned by the demise of Mishuk Munir and Tarek Masud

The whole Bangladesh is mourned today. Bangladesh has lost two legend in an unexpected road accident. I on behalf of Dhaka News feeling deep condolence to the family of Mishuk Munir and Tarek Masud. Tarek Masud is the director of famous Bengali films like ‘Matir Moyna’ and Ran way’. On the other hand, Mishuk Munir was the CEO of 24 hours news channel ATN news. He was also a teacher of Journalism and mass communication in Dhaka University. He was also one of the key person of Ekushey television. We pray for the peace of their eternal soul. President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia today expressed his deep shock and sorrow at the tragic death of eminent filmmaker Tareq Masud, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ATN News Mishuk Munier and three others at a road mishap in on the Dhaka- Aricha highway in Manikganj today. police and witnesses said.

“The five were killed instantly while three others including Tarek Masud’s wife Catharine Masud were sent to at Dhaka Medical College Hospital with critical wounds,” additional police superintendent of Manikganj Zakir Hossain Majumdar told BSS as he was reached here by phone. He said the accident occurred as a microbus carrying nine people including Masud, Mishuk Munier, who is also a former teacher of mass communication and journalism at Dhaka University and cinematographer, collided head on with a bus from opposite direction. “The accident took place at a point where the highway took a critical turn . . . apparently the bus was on high-speed despite heavy downpour as it hit the microbus that was coming to Dhaka,” Majumdar said. Police said Cathrine Masud, also a filmmaker, and the two other injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better medical care as referred by doctors at Manikganj Sadar Hospital where they were initially rushed to. The three other victims who died on the spot were driver of the microbus identified as Mustafiz and Nurul Islam, whose identify could not be known immediately. Manish Rafique, an associate of Masud who survived the crash receiving minor injuries, later told newsmen at Manikganj police station their team was returning from Manikganj visiting a shooting spot for their proposed feature film “Matir Phool” at Shaojana area at Shibalaya upazila. “We were nine in the team who were in the microbus . . . I miraculously escaped the death while they died,” Rafique said.
