Though the government is trying to reassure people, no one is believing it because the base has become weak. Apart from this, there is also pressure to fulfill various conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This multidimensional pressure has also affected the upcoming national budget. The growth rate which was more than 10 percent will not be like the previous years. This year the growth rate will be 5 percent. The IMF has also advised the government to keep the size of the budget small because there is a shortage of financial resources.
In this context, the new Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, who took office five months ago and is known as a diplomat, is going to present the budget for the next fiscal year 2024-25 at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.
