Prime Minister Tariq Rahman told the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today that his government has taken necessary steps to stop the measles outbreak.

“Many of our children have died of measles. However, we are trying to control the entire situation in the coming days,” he said while replying to a supplementary question by opposition MLA Salah Uddin Ahmed from Ghazipur-4 constituency in the House.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, was the Chairman.

Terming the situation as “very unfortunate”, the House leader said it was sad that measles vaccines for children were not imported for many years both during the previous “fascist regime” and the interim government that followed.

Thus, Tariq Rehman said, the problem started appearing this year.
