Nepal said Lamichhane was not given visa for T20 World Cup

Nepal said on Thursday that the US embassy has refused to grant visa to controversial star Sandeep Lamichhane and there is “little or no” chance of him playing in the T20 World Cup.

The T20 World Cup begins on Saturday, co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies, with Nepal's first match on June 4 in Dallas.

Nepal wanted to select spin bowler Lamichhane, whose eight-year sentence for rape was overturned on appeal this month.

The former captain had said last week that his US visa had been rejected, calling the decision “unfortunate”.
