Nepal’s top court on Friday removed belligerent Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane from office for failing to acquire citizenship in the Himalayan republic after giving up his US passport.

Lamichhane, 48, best known for his career as a television host, has made a name for himself as an anti-corruption crusader through incisive interviews with government officials.

He was one of the biggest winners in last November’s elections, earning his new party a place in the ruling coalition and himself the post of deputy prime minister.
