Members of the Rapid Action Battalion have arrested a suspected drug dealer with 540 bottles of foreign liquor in the capital’s Gulshan area.
The arrested is Robiul Islam, 21, a resident in Middle Badda, who hails from Naogaon.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the RAB-1 on Friday morning conducted a drive at Gulshan and arrested the suspected drug dealer, said RAB-1 acting media officer Rakib Hasan.
According to the RAB, they learned that some drug dealers were transporting a large consignment of foreign liquor from Gulshan-1 towards Banani. The team took position at Gulshan road number eight.
Sensing the presence of the RAB, the drug dealers attempted to flee the scene leaving their pickup van. During the escape attempt, the elite force members arrested Robiul and seized foreign liquor and the pickup van.
Legal proceedings and hand over the arrested and the seized items to the Gulshan police station are under way, said Rakib.
