Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood today said the issue of the new citizenship law is India's internal matter and Bangladesh, as a neighboring country, is keeping an eye on it.
“This is India's internal matter and the government (of Bangladesh) is looking at it as a neighboring country,” he said while exchanging views with journalists at the YNT Center in Diwanji Pukur in the city this afternoon.
Bangladesh Awami League (AL) joint secretary Hasan said the last general election in Bangladesh was held in a very free and fair manner, but the United States may have a different opinion.
The United States can give its opinion because some opposition parties did not participate in the election, he said.
He said, “We respect the differences of opinion of any country. However, most countries, including the United States, have expressed their intention to pursue relations with us in the future.”
