Newborns died due to date expired injection?

injectionFour newborns are died at Tangail Sadar Hospital today. Family of the newborns alleged that the newborns were pushed date expired antibiotic injections. Their ages were between two to nine days.

Doctor Saiful Islam prescribed an antibiotic injection for four newborns yesterday. One newborn was pushed injection this morning, it died within twenty minutes. Three other newborns were pushed same injection at noon and these babies also died.

The newborns were brought with pneumonia. Families of the newborns alleged that the injections were date expired.

But junior consultant of pediatrics of the hospital Jahangir Alam said, the injections had date up to 2014. They will investigate the matter to find whether the injection contained some kind of virus or bacteria. They will also try to find out whether wrong treatment was given to the newborns.

Angered families tried to attack the doctors and doctors fled from the hospital.  Police is deployed there.

Few days ago a mobile court conducted an operation at Mitfrod area of the capital and jailed some drug sellers for keeping date expired medicines. But the drug traders went on countrywide strike protesting that. At the end they were assured by the authority that the alleged drug traders will be released.
