Consumers of gas may face interrupted supply of gas in the future. This is because the required compressors in respective places may not be installed timely. Compressors are required in the transmission pipelines to keep stable supply and pressure.
ADB cancelled the first tender in 2006. ADB investigated the process and blacklisted a foreign compressor manufacturing company. That company will not be able to participate later in ADB funded projects.
In May 2009 the 2nd tender was cancelled. It was cancelled because of the fact that the asked price was three times higher than that of the original estimation.
Only one compressor may be operational later this year in Muchai area. This will help a little because it is the least important out of the three.
GTCL could not finalize their last tender in August last year. This will cause the inevitable delay.
