Amid anti-government protests by the BNP, Sheikh Hasina has said that no force is strong enough to topple her Awami League administration.
The prime minister made the remarks in an attempt to allay fears of Jatiya Party MP Fakhrul Imam that the BNP’s agitation could lead to the situation that allowed the army-backed caretaker government to take power in 2007.
On 11 January 2007, after the army extended its support to the caretaker government, Fakhruddin Ahmed was made Chief Advisor – Head of the Caretaker Government the next day. In the politics of Bangladesh, this incident is known as 1/11.
