This process of reinstating the accused persons has been going on elsewhere as well. Jubo League leader AKM Mominul Haque, whose name cropped up in the casino incident, recently returned from abroad after being in hiding for three and a half years.
He has then been reassigned as the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation. In the same way, all the leaders of Awami League, Jubo League and affiliated organization who were expelled from the party due to their involvement in casino scam and other crimes are also being reinstated one by one.
The period of four years is not less for the trial or disposal of a criminal case. During the preliminary investigation, the police arrested the accused after getting information about their involvement in the crime.
If these cases are not heard or even after that the investigation is not completed, it will really send a wrong message to the public. They will think that the opposition leaders-workers can be implicated in fabricated cases while the leaders-workers of the ruling party can get away with major crimes.
