A BBA student, on the condition of anonymity, said that he found hair and insects in the stale food served in the canteen, but the authorities did not take steps to improve the services. “They repeatedly issued notices promising changes, but nothing happened.”
“When the students protested, the Kasundi officials told them: ‘We will be closed for three days and you will learn your lesson.’ This enraged the students more and they boycotted Kasundi upon hearing this.
The student also alleged that Kasundi raised the prices for the students’ canteen at an abnormal rate.
On Thursday, students brought food from home or ordered online.
Canteen officials are now treating the issue as a “misunderstanding”.
Its supervisor Saiful, who gave only one name, said, ‘This is an internal matter of North South University. We are discussing the issue with the authorities. We have held a meeting with the students and officials on Sunday. I hope everything turns out well.”
