Popular actress Shabnam Faria expressed her disappointment with a Facebook status. She mentioned, commercial break started only after two scenes of a TV drama and commercial break continued through twice the time period of those scenes. She said, people will not watch television no matter how good the drama is.
Not only Shabnam Faria, another director Shihab Shahin also expressed annoyance by apologizing to his fans. He himself couldn’t watch his own drama on television for excessive commercial breaks.
Another popular actress Sabila Nur said; she feels very sorry when her fans say, they will watch her TV drama later on YouTube.
Experts say, television channels must find a solution. Television owners have always argued that they are competing against foreign TV channels with very limited resource. Viewers don’t pay for watching local TV programs. TV commercials are the only source of income. On the other hand many foreign channels are pay channels, that means viewers are paying for watching their programs. Hence with better budget they can go for limited commercials and better TV programs.
